There has been lots going on lately guys, in terms of stocking up utilities and goodies for the PRH, Aanya's growing-up hysterics and anticipations of impending road trips. Me and the Miss are temporarily absent on site and are using the away-time for planning, stocking and chalking out a fun plan o'action.
Workwise I'am down to tackling two jobs right now which are;
1. Planning initial design ideas to avoid hotch-potch later.
2. Collecting what I easily find here at Bhubaneswar to go with what I have in mind for home.
Speaking of the first, I introduce you to something I recently learned about.
MOOD BOARDS!!
They are very simply, a visual journal of what catches your fancy for home and fits in with the theme and colors you want to use. They are organized in terms of color-schemes and objects of desire that add jazz to unchangeable elements of interiors. Do not look for practicality here. Use Moodboards as a frame of reference for shopping, acquiring goodies or just playing around with placing of furniture and knick-knacks.
I started with my Living room or what is popularly called the Drawing room, for what insane reason I dunno.
I chose two themes while capturing the basics I want i.e
Rug/Carpet
An unfinished bench
Cushions
Ornaments for table tops or lighting
Wall art
So here goes: The Color-me-pink Theme
Looks nice no?!! I love it.
But the standard color of walls and the horrendous sofas in the house which I can't change immediately, forced me to think of an alternative without losing the dramatic look I want. That is why I thought of putting a lot of earthy pastel shades with bright colors on walls or extras. That brings us to....
The Earthy-Neutral Theme
At the risk of being called conventional I must mention that traditional Indian homes fit well with neutral and earthy but cozy decor which is possibly easier to get-done.
I love the addition of a magazine bin that lets me put in my reading junk within easy reach without being an eyesore.
The idea of Moodboards, I'am loving right now and feeling like a creative candy for that.
The second task which I mentioned earlier is in the process of actioning and all collected junk shall deserve a blog-post all to themselves. I shall be able to show you a few places I love to shop around in Bhubaneswar when I'am at Mom-Dads with cute pics if you haven't been here. So do watch out for a clicksy next post.
In all this makeover business I did shop and sneaked in a giftie for the Mr. which is as yet unopened since its a surprise and a small lamp which shall go home with us for Aanya's bed-side or my work table. See ahead how fascinated she is with it.
